Stronger Collaboration Between PNP and DOJ to End Blame Game
Interior Secretary Juanito ‘Jonvic’ Remulla urges a stronger collaboration between the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) to stop the recurring blame game. “This time, it stops. This time, we work together. This time, we train together. This time, we learn together. And this time, we win together,” Remulla emphasized.
This call for unity came during the signing of the pledge for the Training and Educational Program for DOJ Prosecutors and Law Enforcement Agents (TEPLEA) 2025. According to sources, this program marks a new era in justice sector coordination.
TEPLEA 2025 Aims to Build Unity and Professionalism
TEPLEA 2025 is a nationwide training initiative designed to strengthen cooperation and professionalism among law enforcement and prosecution agencies. It brings together personnel from the PNP, DOJ, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
The initial batch includes 100 participants from these agencies, fostering a shared commitment to justice and accountability. Local leaders noted that this program hopes to bridge gaps and reduce conflicts between prosecutors and police officers.
Addressing Public Cynicism Through Visible Efforts
Secretary Remulla also highlighted how public skepticism grows due to the lack of awareness of positive actions by justice and enforcement bodies. “We do not hear the good things the DOJ has done in promoting conviction. We do not hear about the coast guard defending our territorial integrity against the Chinese. Because of this, people become cynical. TEPLEA is one chance to erase that cynicism,” he said.
The event drew attendance from key officials, including Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, NBI Director Jaime Santiago, PNP Chief Police General Nicolas Torre III, PCG Vice Admiral Edgar Ibañez, Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary Dioscoro Reyes, and PDEA Deputy Director General Israel Ephraim Dickson.
Together, these leaders underscored the importance of training, cooperation, and transparency in strengthening the justice system. By working side by side, the agencies hope to rebuild public trust and enhance their effectiveness.
