Manila’s Efficient Student Allowance Distribution
Manila’s local government has successfully implemented a smooth and organized distribution of student allowances, ensuring that thousands of students receive their financial support on time. The student allowance distribution covers a sum of P3,000 per student, accounting for the months from January to March 2025.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the manual payout process for these allowances took place from May 28 to 31. The distribution followed a precise schedule arranged by each college, which helped maintain order throughout the process.
Details on Recipients and Distribution Process
The total number of students who received the P3,000 allowance reached 10,115, resulting in a combined disbursement of P30,345,000. Alongside the Universidad de Manila (UdM), approximately 8,000 students from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) also received the same amount. However, the PLM students obtained their allowances through debit card accounts rather than manual payouts.
Support Through the City’s Social Amelioration Program
The local government unit operates both universities and administers this program as part of the city’s social amelioration program (SAP). This initiative provides a monthly P1,000 allowance to students, while also offering regular cash assistance to senior citizens, solo parents, and persons with disabilities.
Community leaders said the consistent and transparent handling of the allowance distribution reflects the city’s commitment to supporting its students and vulnerable groups. This approach not only facilitates financial aid but also promotes a sense of trust and reliability within the community.
