Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway Toll Rates Increase September

Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway Toll Rates Increase Effective September 9

Starting Tuesday, September 9, motorists will face higher fees on the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway as part of the third and final toll rate adjustment tranche, officials reported. The toll hike on the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway aims to balance maintenance costs while ensuring smooth travel for users.

The Northern Luzon Expressway Corporation (NLEX Corp) announced that Class 1 vehicles, including cars and SUVs, will pay an additional P0.64 per kilometer. For Class 2 vehicles such as buses and small commercial trucks, the toll will increase by P1.29 per kilometer. Larger vehicles, categorized as Class 3 trucks and trailers, will incur an extra P1.93 per kilometer, sources said.

Detailed Toll Adjustments by Vehicle Class and Route

Travelers heading from the Mabiga Interchange in Mabalacat City, Pampanga, to Tarlac will see a toll increase of P25 for Class 1 vehicles. Meanwhile, Class 2 vehicles on this route will pay P51 more, and Class 3 will be charged an additional P75. Community members noted these changes aim to reflect operational costs accurately.

Meanwhile, motorists using the SCTEX stretch from Mabiga Interchange to Tipo in Hermosa, Bataan, will experience a higher toll charge as well. Class 1 vehicles will pay an extra P40, Class 2 vehicles P80, and Class 3 vehicles P121 more, officials reported.

Full-Length SCTEX Toll Hike

For those traveling the entire length of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway, toll increases are more substantial. Class 1 vehicles will pay an additional P66, Class 2 vehicles P131, and Class 3 vehicles P197, local leaders noted. These adjustments reflect the increasing costs of expressway maintenance and improvements.

Background and Regulatory Compliance

The NLEX Corporation emphasized that these toll adjustments follow strict regulatory procedures and thorough reviews. They form part of the approved 2020/2022 petition for periodic toll adjustments originally scheduled for 2021 and 2023, officials explained.

The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), and NLEX Corporation agreed to phase in these increases in three tranches over three years. This gradual approach was designed to minimize the financial impact on motorists while addressing the expressway’s funding needs, sources said.

Impact on Motorists and Road Users

Motorists are advised to prepare for these incremental toll fees when planning their travel along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway. The phased increases aim to sustain the expressway’s infrastructure and improve travel safety and efficiency over time.

Community members expressed understanding of the necessity but also hope for continued transparency and responsible use of toll revenues to benefit all users.
