Just days before the national and local elections, violence erupted in Basilan as supporters of mayoral candidates clashed on Langil Island. At least four people lost their lives during the encounter, which took place on Sunday morning in Hadji Mohammad Ajul, Basilan.

Grenade attack hits barangay hall in Nueva Ecija
Meanwhile, in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, a tense moment unfolded when a motorcycle rider was caught on video throwing a grenade at a barangay hall. The explosion caused damage to the roof and walls of the building.
Another motorcycle rider who happened to pass by during the blast was injured by shrapnel to the nape but was quickly brought to a nearby hospital and declared safe. For safety reasons, the barangay captain chose not to comment while investigations continue.
