Supreme Court Clarifies Impeachment Case Procedure
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. emphasized on Friday that the Supreme Court’s ruling on the stalled impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte focused solely on procedural matters. It did not delve into the core issues of the complaint.
“Let me clarify. The merits of the case were not examined by the Supreme Court… This does not decide the merits of the case. It just talked about procedure. So the procedure was faulty, was lacking. So that is the assessment of the Supreme Court,” Marcos told members of the Philippine delegation during his state visit to India.

Batanes is now effectively “bracketed” by three China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels patrolling both the eastern and western waters of the island province as of Friday. According to local maritime observers, CCG ship 4304 was spotted about 60 nautical miles west of Batanes, while ships 3301 and 3304 were seen roughly 70 nautical miles off the eastern side.
