Surigao Police Arrest Key Suspect in Erwin Segovia Killing
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Authorities in Surigao del Sur have apprehended one of the primary suspects in the killing of Bislig City radioman Erwin “Boy Pana” Segovia last July 21. The arrest took place three days ago, marking a significant breakthrough in the case.
The Provincial Police Office (PPO) of Surigao del Sur identified the suspect as alias Jeffrey Birador, 40, a farmer residing in Lingig town. The arrest operation was carried out to enforce two search warrants at his residence in Sitio Napanpanan, Barangay Rajah Cabungsuan in Lingig.
Confiscation of Illegal Weapons and Explosives
The police seized two .45 caliber pistols, each loaded with six bullets, and a fragmentation grenade during the operation. These confiscated items could have posed serious threats to public safety, the PPO confirmed.
After the arrest, Birador was taken to the Lingig police station for further investigation. Local sources say this arrest is a crucial step toward justice for Segovia.
