Stolen Motorcycle Encounter Leads to Arrest
Cavite authorities arrested a suspect following a chance encounter involving a stolen motorcycle in Silang on Thursday, May 2. The man who spotted the motorcycle recognized it immediately, which sparked an alert to local police.
Reports indicate the stolen motorcycle was originally reported missing by its owner on May 18. When the victim saw the motorcycle being driven by the suspect in Barangay Biga 2, he quickly informed the authorities.
Police Operation and Evidence Recovery
Silang Municipal Police Station personnel promptly responded and flagged down the suspect, identified only by the alias Bert. The victim positively confirmed both the motorcycle and the driver, recognizing him from CCTV footage taken during the theft.
During the arrest, officers found a .38 caliber revolver without a serial number concealed on the suspect’s waist. This unlicensed firearm was seized as evidence.
Charges Filed Against Suspect
The suspect is now in custody and faces multiple charges, including violations of the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 and the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. These charges relate to the illegal possession of firearms and the theft of the motorcycle, which were both discovered during the police intervention.
