The suspect in the killing of shawarma employee in Quezon City has surrendered to authorities and is now under the custody of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD). According to QCPD officials, the suspect turned himself in on May 8 while in Barobo, Surigao del Sur.
Prior to his surrender, police coordinated with the suspect’s relatives, who encouraged him to face the authorities. Once the suspect agreed, the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) worked closely with the local police in Barobo and Police Regional Office 13 to facilitate his safe surrender.
Transfer and charges pending
CIDU operatives then escorted the suspect back to Quezon City, where he was formally placed in QCPD custody on May 9. The police have announced plans to file murder charges against him at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
Details of the killing of shawarma employee
Initial investigations reveal that the victim, a female employee of the shawarma store in Barangay Sangandaan, was found dead with stab wounds inside the store’s kitchen at around 8:50 a.m. on May 4. CCTV footage caught the suspect, identified as Eduardo, 22, a former employee of the same store, entering the premises the previous night and attacking the victim before fleeing.
Remarkably, the suspect left behind his wallet containing his ID, debit card, and P1,000 cash. Nothing was reported missing from the store or the victim’s belongings, which steered investigators to believe that robbery was not the motive.
Personal grudge led to the tragedy
Police believe the killing of shawarma employee was driven by a personal grudge. Both the suspect and the victim worked together handling the store’s inventory. During a stock check, the victim discovered discrepancies that pointed to the suspect.
According to the QCPD spokesperson, the victim confronted the suspect about these irregularities, which ultimately resulted in his dismissal from the job. This confrontation appeared to be the trigger for the fatal attack.
The case remains under investigation as authorities prepare to proceed with filing the appropriate charges against the suspect.
