Suspect Surrenders in Killing of Meralco Employee in Cavite
Authorities reported that the suspect involved in the killing of a Manila Electric Company (Meralco) employee in Cavite surrendered to law enforcement on Monday morning. The DasmariƱas City police confirmed the suspect’s voluntary surrender during a press conference held with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Quezon City.
During the conference, the DasmariƱas City police chief, Lt. Col. Regino OƱate, stated that the investigation will proceed now that the suspect is in custody. “We will investigate the suspect now that he surrendered,” OƱate said in a brief interview after the event.
Road Rage Cited as Motive in Meralco Employee Killing
Officials revealed that the killing stemmed from an incident of road rage. According to Lt. Col. OƱate, the victim followed the suspect until their vehicles collided, which led to the fatal confrontation. “Based on our investigation, that really was the reason ā road rage. The victim followed the suspect until their cars jostled, and thatās where the incident happened,” he explained.
A murder case was already filed against the suspect last Friday, local authorities confirmed. This legal action marks a critical step toward accountability in the case.

The Police Regional Office Calabarzon (PRO 4A) provided additional details about the incident. The event took place at approximately 6:45 a.m. on August 27, along Jose Abad Santos Avenue in Barangay Salitran 3, DasmariƱas City.
PRO 4A identified the victim only by the name “Mayo.” The victim sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the left side of his head, according to the police report.
