Suspected Local Terrorist Arrested in Cotabato City
MANILA, Philippines — Authorities have arrested a suspected local terrorist linked to multiple bombing attacks, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced Tuesday. The operation took place in Cotabato City, where the suspect was reportedly spotted recently.
The NBI identified the suspect as Lutre Aman, a member of the Daulah Islamiyah – Hassan Group. This group is known for carrying out a series of bombings across Maguindanao and surrounding provinces. Aman is the primary suspect in several violent incidents that have alarmed the region.
Background of Alleged Bombings
According to sources, Aman is accused of orchestrating the bombing of a bus in January 2021 in Tulunan, North Cotabato. That attack tragically took the life of a local fruit vendor. Furthermore, he is also linked to the arson attack on another bus in June 2021 in Mlang, Cotabato.
The NBI confirmed that their agents tracked Aman’s location after receiving tips about his movements in Cotabato City. Acting on a warrant of arrest filed for murder, attempted murder, and destructive arson under Section 2 (4) in relation to Section 5 of Presidential Decree 1613, law enforcement detained him on June 19 at Penafrancia Village, Rosary Heights 11.

Following this arrest, local authorities have intensified security measures in Metro Manila and Mindanao. The recent bombing incidents, including those linked to the suspect, have raised public safety concerns nationwide.
