Massive Drug Bust in Angeles City
Suspected shabu worth P686.8 million was confiscated during a buy-bust operation conducted in Angeles City, Pampanga. Authorities carried out the operation around 11:35 a.m. on Wednesday, leading to the arrest of two individuals identified as 31-year-old Chinese national Wang and 24-year-old Filipino named Shania.
Items Seized in the Buy-Bust Operation
During the raid, law enforcement officials recovered a total of 96 tea bags along with five transparent self-sealing plastic bags. These contained suspected shabu weighing approximately 101 kilograms. Alongside the drugs, a vehicle, a mobile phone, and driver’s licenses were also seized.
Legal Actions and Charges
Both suspects are set to face charges related to the sale and possession of dangerous drugs under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The authorities are preparing to file the necessary complaints against them.
Focus on High-Volume Drug Seizures
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani Nerez emphasized that the agency is prioritizing operations targeting large quantities of illegal drugs and arresting high-value drug personalities. He revealed that Wang and Shania are considered among the top suppliers of illegal drugs in the country.
Crackdown on Organized Drug Groups
In line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive, the agency pledges to intensify efforts against organized groups involved in large-scale drug trafficking. Nerez stated, “We will continue to crack down on these people, in response to the marching order of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to pursue organized groups that are involved in big-time drug trafficking activities, including their sources.”
