Second Suspect Arrested in Comelec Chairperson’s Bag Theft
Authorities have apprehended the second suspect involved in the theft of Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairperson George Garcia’s bag, officials reported. The incident, which took place along Roxas Boulevard in Barangay 10, Pasay City, has drawn swift police action.
According to local law enforcement, six suspects collectively stole Garcia’s belongings while he dined at a restaurant on Tuesday afternoon. The first suspect was arrested the following day, and the second suspect was detained on Thursday afternoon.
Details of the Arrest and Investigation
Police identified the second suspect by the alias “Rawraw.” He was located and arrested in Molino I, Bacoor, Cavite, following a police operation based on confidential information about his whereabouts, community members said. A witness who was present during the original crime played a vital role in confirming Rawraw’s identity, which helped authorities capture him.
After his arrest, Rawraw was handed over to Pasay City police and underwent inquest proceedings late Thursday night, sources noted.
Ongoing Manhunt for Remaining Suspects
Despite the arrest of two suspects, the Southern Police District emphasized that the other four individuals involved in the theft remain at large. Police continue to pursue leads and conduct investigations to bring all suspects to justice, local leaders confirmed.
