Taguig City Government Employee Arrested in Drug Bust
Authorities apprehended a Taguig City government employee during a drug bust operation on May 26. The individual, identified by police as alias Erwin, 20, is reportedly assigned to the Flood Management Office of Taguig. Law enforcement officials have classified him as a high-value target in their ongoing anti-drug campaign.
The arrest took place around 8:40 p.m. in Barangay Rizal through a buy-bust operation conducted by the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of the Taguig Police. During the operation, police seized four plastic sachets containing suspected methamphetamine, locally known as shabu, weighing 104.7 grams. The estimated street value of the confiscated drugs is approximately P711,960.
Details of the Seized Items and Charges
Along with the suspected drugs, authorities recovered a genuine P500 bill used as buy-bust money and six pieces of P1,000 bills intended for boodle money. The evidence has been forwarded to the Southern Police District’s Forensic Unit for laboratory examination to confirm the nature of the seized substances.
The police will file charges against the suspect for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. These sections cover the sale, distribution, and possession of dangerous drugs. The case will be submitted to the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office for further legal action.
