Tagum Water’s Five Years of Dedicated Service to Tagum City
Tagum Water’s five years of dedicated service has firmly established it as a vital provider of bulk water services in Tagum City, Davao del Norte. Since its inception, the company has prioritized delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable water solutions to the community. The early commitment to innovation and partnerships has made Tagum Water a trusted name in the region.
Founded in 2015 through a joint venture between Davao Norte Water — a Manila Water and iWater consortium — and the Tagum City Water District, the project was designed to supply an additional 38 million liters of water daily over 15 years. This public-private partnership built a robust bulk water supply system that sources water sustainably from the Hijo River.
Innovative Water Solutions Driving Sustainable Growth
Tagum Water’s infrastructure includes riverbank filtration intake structures, a modern water treatment plant, transmission pipelines, and a water reservoir. Operations began in 2020 after the water treatment plant was successfully commissioned. Notably, in 2022, Manila Water Philippine Ventures fully acquired Davao Norte Water, boosting its stake in Tagum Water to 90 percent.
The company’s innovation efforts earned national recognition in 2024 when it received the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency Excellence Award. This accolade highlighted Tagum Water’s pioneering use of artificial recharge technology for water extraction, underscoring its dedication to sustainable and efficient resource management.
Padayon: A Journey of Unity and Strength
This year’s anniversary theme, “Padayon: A Journey Continues, Empowered Together,” builds on the previous theme of Kalig-on, meaning resilience. Padayon reflects a renewed commitment to progress through unity, shared goals, and collective strength. It honors the team’s perseverance, milestones, and the community’s role in driving Tagum Water forward.
“Tagum Water’s journey is a testament to what can be achieved when communities, partners, and teams come together with a shared vision,” said Fhatima Mae-Saiya M. Fernandez, regional operations department head. “As we celebrate five years of service, we reaffirm our commitment to delivering water that empowers lives and sustains futures.”
Looking Ahead: Expanding Impact and Innovation
Looking forward, Tagum Water plans to expand its impact and continue embracing innovation. The company aims to strengthen its role in providing sustainable water services while maintaining a purpose-driven approach. From strength to momentum, from Kalig-on to Padayon, the journey continues with unwavering dedication to the community.
