Teacher Apologizes for Defaming Barotac Nuevo Police Officers Online
ILOILO CITY – A private school computer teacher has issued a public apology after falsely accusing police officers in Barotac Nuevo town, Iloilo province. John Rey Decipulo Enoy admitted his claims against the lawmen were untrue and expressed regret for maligning their reputation online.
“I would like to extend my sincerest public apology to all the policemen I mentioned earlier in my post. I admit that I made a false accusation against them,” Enoy said in a statement released on Saturday, June 7. He further acknowledged, “I acknowledge that the accusation was not true.”
False Accusations Spark Police Response
Enoy initially claimed that the officers who responded to a pre-dawn incident were intoxicated and abused their authority to harass civilians. However, local police officials firmly denied these allegations. The Barotac Nuevo Municipal Police Station emphasized that the officers conducted themselves professionally despite provocations.
“The officers confronted the individuals to ensure their safety, uphold public order, and remind them of legal and community standards,” the police statement said. They stressed the seriousness of defamatory acts and their right to seek remedies under laws that protect public servants from false and malicious claims.
Police Concerned Over Misdirected Accusations
The Barotac Nuevo police expressed concern that instead of cooperating, the teacher chose to spread misinformation through social media. Authorities highlighted the damage such false claims cause to their personnel’s credibility and public trust.
Moreover, police pointed out that the real issue involves a trusted educator’s questionable behavior with minors, which has been overshadowed by the defamation. They urged the community to focus on the facts rather than unfounded accusations.
