Teen Arrested for Illegal Drugs Possession and Gambling in Pasig
A 15-year-old child in conflict with the law was arrested after police caught him gambling and holding illegal drugs in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City. The teenager, identified only as Jan, was detained early morning on June 10 during a routine foot patrol.
Authorities spotted Jan alongside several others gambling around 5 a.m., but the other suspects fled before police could act. Jan, however, was apprehended on the spot. Upon searching him, officers recovered a sachet of shabu along with money used for gambling. He was immediately handed over to the City Social Welfare and will face charges for illegal gambling and drug possession.
Recent Rise in Juvenile Drug Cases in Barangay Pinagbuhatan
This incident follows a similar case on May 30, when a 16-year-old, known as Ken, was arrested for his involvement in the illegal drugs trade in the same barangay. Local police identified Ken as a newly flagged high-value individual after receiving tips from a private informant.
After confirming the information through surveillance, the police’s drug enforcement unit launched a buy-bust operation that led to Ken’s capture. Authorities confiscated 191.1 grams of shabu valued at over P1.3 million and 15.8 grams of kush worth nearly P24,000.
Authorities Strengthen Efforts Against Juvenile Crime
These recent arrests highlight ongoing law enforcement efforts to curb illegal activities involving minors in Pasig City. Community leaders and police continue to work together to address the root causes of youth involvement in drugs and gambling. Officials urge residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities to prevent further crimes.
