Teen Caught with Shabu and Kush in Pasig Buy-Bust
A 16-year-old boy was arrested early Friday morning, May 30, in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City, during a police buy-bust operation. Authorities seized over P1 million worth of shabu and kush from the minor, raising concerns about drug activity involving young individuals.
The Eastern Police District identified the suspect as Ken, a resident of Barangay Pinagbuhatan, who has been flagged as a newly identified high-value target in their ongoing anti-drug campaign. The arrest followed a tip-off from a private informant who alerted the police about Ken’s illegal activities.
Buy-Bust Operation Leads to Major Drug Seizure
After verifying the informant’s report through surveillance, the police’s drug enforcement unit launched a buy-bust operation that resulted in Ken’s capture. Officers recovered 191.1 grams of shabu, valued at approximately P1,302,880, along with 15.8 grams of kush worth around P23,700.
The police are preparing charges against Ken for violating Section 5 (Selling of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Meanwhile, the minor is now under the custody of Pasig City’s social welfare department as authorities complete the necessary documents for inquest proceedings.
Authorities Renew Commitment to Fight Drug Crime
A police official emphasized the Eastern Police District’s reputation as one of the safest districts in the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and expressed determination to maintain this status. He said, “Being hailed as the safest district in the NCRPO for years, we aim to continue this legacy and intensify our battle to eradicate drugs and maintain the peace and order in the entire Eastern Police District.”
He also called on all personnel to keep their dedication strong, acknowledging their crucial role in the success of the district’s law enforcement efforts.
This incident underlines the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in combating drug-related crimes, especially involving minors, and highlights the need for continued vigilance and community cooperation.
