Teen Seized with Over One Million Worth of Shabu in Pasig
A 16-year-old girl was recently arrested in Pasig City after being caught with shabu valued at more than one million pesos. The Eastern Police District (EPD) conducted a buy-bust operation in Barangay Pinagbuhatan on May 21, which led to the arrest of the minor, identified only by the alias “Indang.”
Law enforcement sources revealed that Indang had become a newly identified high-value target linked to illegal drugs. After several days of surveillance, a police undercover buyer successfully purchased P1,000 worth of shabu from her, which paved the way for the operation.
Details of the Operation and Seized Drugs
During the raid, authorities recovered approximately 208.2 grams of shabu from the suspect, with an estimated street value of P1,415,760. The substantial amount underscores the scale of the illegal drug activity the police are targeting in the area.
Following her arrest, the minor was handed over to Pasig City’s Social Welfare and Development office for custody and proper care. Meanwhile, officials are preparing charges against her for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Police Response and Community Concerns
An officer in charge from the EPD expressed both pride in the police force’s dedication and concern over the involvement of minors in drug-related crimes. “Saludo ako sa ating mga kapulisan sa muling pagpapakita ng kanilang dedikasyon at kahusayan sa ginagampanang tungkulin. Nakakalungkot at nakakabahala ang mga ganitong kaso sapagkat menor de edad ang nahuhuling suspek, ngunit ang aming hanay ay patuloy na lumalaban at ipinaglalaban ang kaligtasan ng taumbayan,” said a police official familiar with the operation.
Authorities are intensifying their efforts to curb illegal drug distribution, especially in vulnerable communities like Barangay Pinagbuhatan, where syndicates may attempt to operate. The commitment to strengthen law enforcement strategies aims to reduce the drug menace and educate the public about its harmful effects.
Ongoing Efforts to Combat Illegal Drugs
The EPD continues to ramp up operations targeting drug syndicates and their networks. Local experts note that these efforts are crucial to safeguarding community safety and preventing more youth from becoming involved in illegal activities.
“We will further intensify our law enforcement operations and strategies with the aim of curbing illegal drugs and raising the awareness of the people on its harmful effects on our society,” added a police source.
