Anti-Narcotics Raid Shocks Mandaue City Community
CEBU CITY – During a recent anti-narcotics operation, three individuals were apprehended in a raid targeting a suspected drug den in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City. This location was previously declared a drug-cleared zone, making the arrests particularly alarming.
Authorities said the raid, which occurred over the weekend, led to the arrest of 37-year-old Jay-r, who is believed to be the main operator of the drug den. Local sources said Jay-r had a prior arrest in 2013 for illegal drugs but was later released under a plea bargaining agreement.
Additional Arrests and Confiscated Evidence
Two visitors to the drug den, identified as 45-year-old Alquen and 21-year-old Robert, were also taken into custody. According to officials, Alquen had a previous drug-related arrest in 2015 and was released on probation.
During the operation, agents confiscated 16 packs of suspected shabu weighing a total of 16 grams. The estimated market value of the seized drugs is around P108,800. These findings suggest that illegal drug activities persist despite the area’s prior drug-cleared status.
Continuous Vigilance in Drug-Cleared Barangays
Barangay Subangdaku remains under close surveillance as authorities work to prevent any resurgence of illegal drug operations. “To ensure that drug-cleared barangays are able to maintain their status, vigilance and proactive efforts of the community and the sustained conduct of anti-illegal drug operations are crucial,” local officials noted.
This incident highlights the importance of community involvement and persistent law enforcement efforts to keep barangays free from illegal drugs.
