Three Chinese Men Arrested in Makati Hostage Case
Police captured three Chinese nationals following a daring rescue operation inside a Makati City condominium. The suspects were involved in abducting, drugging, and raping a 33-year-old Vietnamese woman while demanding a P1 million ransom from her husband. This incident unfolded in the early hours of June 6.
Authorities quickly acted after receiving a tip from the victim’s husband overseas. He was contacted by the kidnappers, who demanded 500 million Vietnamese Dong—equivalent to about P1 million—in exchange for his wife’s freedom. The suspects threatened to sever the victim’s fingers if the ransom was not paid.
Coordinated Police Response Leads Rescue
The police traced the suspects to a unit in Barangay San Lorenzo. During the rescue, a Filipina woman, believed to be the girlfriend of one suspect, left the unit to mislead officers. She admitted another woman was inside but claimed not to have seen her face. Shortly after, the door was locked behind her.
When officers knocked again, they heard the suspects cocking a firearm. This prompted a call for reinforcements. SWAT and TMRU units secured the area, culminating in the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of several pieces of evidence.
Weapons, Drugs, and Evidence Recovered
Police seized two suppressed pistols loaded with live ammunition, P136,800 worth of shabu, liquid ecstasy, and other drug-related items. The victims’ ordeal was harrowing: she was repeatedly drugged, sexually abused, and filmed by the suspects.
Investigations revealed the suspects lured the victim to Makati on June 2 and forcibly took her from a friend’s condominium in Barangay Bel-Air to their unit in San Lorenzo. Authorities also disclosed that one suspect, identified as Lei, has a long criminal record, including kidnapping, illegal detention, firearm possession, and carnapping.
“His history shows a pattern of criminal behavior across multiple jurisdictions, raising concerns about his ongoing illicit activities,” a police official noted.
Justice and Public Safety Efforts
The suspects are now held in Makati City Police custody as authorities prepare charges against them. Officials emphasized that this successful operation underscores the effectiveness of coordinated police action and real-time communication.
One police leader highlighted, “The Makati City Police Station remains dedicated to enforcing law and order, fulfilling the objectives of swift justice and public safety under the revitalized PNP program.”
