Three National Road Sections Closed Due to Crising Storm

Three National Road Sections Closed Amid Crising Storm

MANILA, Philippines – Three national road sections in three different regions have been closed to traffic due to the severe impact of the southwest monsoon combined with Severe Tropical Storm Crising. Authorities issued a travel advisory warning motorists and travelers to avoid these areas for safety.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported that these road closures started at 6 a.m. on Saturday. The disruptions were caused by soil collapses, rockfalls, and landslides affecting roads in the Cordillera region, Cagayan Valley, and the Negros Island Region (NIR).

Specific Roads Closed to Traffic

The affected routes include Kennon Road (S00393LZ) K0216+(-460) at Camp 1 in Tuba, Benguet; the San Vicente – Savidug Chavaya – Sumnanga-Nakanmuan Road in Barangay Chavayan, Sabtang, Batanes; and the Dancalan – Candoni – Damutan Valley Road located in Barangay Gatuslao, Candoni, Negros Occidental.

Limited Access on Other Key Roads

Besides the road closures, DPWH also reported that six national road sections are under limited access restrictions. Four of these are in the Negros Island Region, with the remaining two located in Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon. Flooding and precautionary measures have prompted these restrictions.

The roads with limited access include Dugo – San Vicente Road (Dugo-Mission Section) in Buguey, Cagayan; Amungan – Palauig Road in Barangay Bato, Palauig, Zambales; Bacolod South Road (S00134NR) in Negros Occidental; Junction Bagonawa – La Castellana – Isabela Road in Negros Occidental; Hinigaran – Isabela Road in Negros Occidental; and Bacolod South Road S00224NR in Barangay Dancalan, Ilog, Negros Occidental.

Other Roads Remain Passable

Despite these closures and restrictions, officials confirmed that all other national roads and bridges in the affected areas remain open and passable for all vehicle types as of Saturday morning. Travelers are advised to stay updated and exercise caution when traveling in these regions.

Local authorities and sources said continuous monitoring and maintenance efforts are underway to restore safe road conditions as soon as possible. Motorists are urged to follow travel advisories and avoid the closed sections to ensure their safety.
