Three Wanted Suspects Arrested During Election Day Voting
Authorities apprehended three wanted suspects in separate areas of Cavite and Batangas after tracking them down when they appeared to vote on election day. The arrests happened at their respective voting precincts, highlighting the effective monitoring by law enforcement during the elections.
Suspects Caught in Their Voting Precincts
One of the suspects, wanted for a carnapping case, was arrested by police right after casting his vote in Bacoor, Cavite. The police received information from an informant who confirmed that the suspect planned to vote, leading to his immediate capture.
“Itong suspek na ito ay may kasong carnapping. Noong election day nga, mayroong impormante na nagsabi na ang suspek na ito ay boboto….Pagkatapos bumoto ay kanila nang hinuli,” said a police official.
Despite attempting to flee, the suspect was unable to escape the authorities.
Illegal Drugs Suspect Arrested Before Voting
In another operation also in Bacoor, a regional police unit received a tip that a suspect wanted for illegal drugs charges intended to vote at a local polling precinct. The police promptly acted on the information and arrested the suspect before he could cast his ballot.
Violence Against Women Suspect Nabbed in Batangas
Meanwhile, in Tanauan, Batangas, law enforcement officers arrested a third wanted individual linked to violence against women and children. This suspect was also caught at a voting site during the election.
All three detainees are currently held at Camp Vicente Lim as authorities continue their investigation and verification. Efforts are ongoing to obtain statements from the arrested individuals.
This series of arrests demonstrates how the election period can serve as an opportunity for authorities to locate and detain wanted persons who attempt to exercise their voting rights. The enforcement of the law remains strict and vigilant during this critical time.
