Thunderstorms Expected in Metro Manila and Luzon Provinces
Thunderstorms are forecasted to hit Metro Manila and several provinces across Luzon, officials reported. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned of heavy rainshowers accompanied by lightning and strong winds in these areas.
Areas Under Severe Weather Alert
According to a 1:30 p.m. advisory, heavy to intense rainshowers with lightning and gusty winds will affect Metro Manila, Bulacan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bataan, and Cavite. Meanwhile, intense rainshowers with similar conditions are expected in Batangas, Quezon, Rizal, Laguna, Zambales, and Nueva Ecija, local authorities noted.
Precautionary Measures Recommended
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions against the impacts of these weather disturbances. Community members said risks include flash floods and landslides, which may pose dangers especially in vulnerable locations.
Typhoon Gorio’s Current Status
Meanwhile, Typhoon Gorio has yet to make landfall and is currently moving westward over the Philippine Sea, meteorological sources said. Authorities continue to monitor its path closely to provide timely updates.
