Tingog Party-list Distributes Rice and Blankets to Flood Victims
Tingog Party-list, working closely with House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, has delivered rice and blankets to families in Marikina City affected by recent flooding. The relief effort focused on areas hit hard by prolonged monsoon rains, providing much-needed support to those displaced and struggling.
In Barangay Tumana, low-lying neighborhoods near Singkamas Court experienced severe floods. Here, 1,000 families received bags of rice alongside more than 500 blankets. The distribution involved local officials, including Marikina District 2 Representative Miro Quimbo, former Representative Stella Quimbo, Councilor Ziffred Ancheta, and Barangay Captain Akiko Centeno, who helped ensure aid reached those in need swiftly.
Community Efforts Expand Relief in Marikina
Another distribution took place at Malanday Elementary School in Barangay Malanday. This initiative handed out an additional 1,000 rice bags and over 1,000 blankets. Marikina District 1 Representative Marcy Teodoro and Mayor Maan Teodoro supported the operation, showing strong local government cooperation.
Representatives Yedda Romualdez, Jude Acidre, and Andrew Romualdez led the relief activities across both barangays. Romualdez expressed empathy for those affected, stating, “It’s hard to imagine the worry of a mother who doesn’t know where the next meal will come from after a flood. That’s why we came—not just to bring rice, but to bring comfort, to be present, and to let every family here know that they are seen, they are remembered, and they are not alone.”
Local Coordination Key to Swift Aid Delivery
Acidre emphasized the importance of collaboration in responding quickly to crises. He said, “When families are in crisis, presence matters. We thank our partners in Marikina for working with us to ensure this assistance reached affected residents without delay.”
Tingog Party-list’s rice and blanket distribution is part of a larger effort to assist communities impacted by the monsoon rains across Metro Manila and neighboring provinces. Similar relief operations are underway in cities like Pasay, Manila, and Caloocan.
The group remains committed to coordinating with local government units to offer timely and focused support to families affected by natural disasters.
