BATANGAS CITY — Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino delivered a pointed message to InfinitUs Marketing Solutions on Saturday: Stop hiding behind lawyers and face the Senate investigation head-on.
“On May 5, we’ll hold a hearing. Everything will be under oath. So kung InfinitUs ay deny nang deny ngayon, wag sa media. Humarap kayo, umattend kayo sa hearing,” Tolentino challenged during a press conference of Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas.
He urged the company to voice out their side directly in the hearing instead of issuing press releases through their legal counsel. “Mag-subscribe kayo, doon niyo sabihin ang gusto niyong sabihin. Hindi po ‘yong press release nang press release ‘yong abogado nila. Humarap sila sa hearing sa Lunes. Mas maganda po ‘yong ganon,” Tolentino said.
The Senate probe is fueled by allegations that InfinitUs acted as a public relations front for the Chinese Embassy in Manila in 2023. According to Tolentino, the firm was tasked with hiring “trolls” to push pro-China narratives within the country.
Adding fuel to the fire, Tolentino presented a Bank of China check dated September 2023, showing a P930,000 payment to InfinitUs for supposed services rendered to the Chinese Embassy.
Further Senate documents, sourced from the Securities and Exchange Commission, reveal that two Chinese nationals are listed as incorporators of InfinitUs Marketing Solutions.
In a statement issued Friday, InfinitUs outrightly denied any contract with the Chinese Embassy yet admitted to receiving a payment from them. The firm vehemently rejected accusations of “trolling.”
“We are professionals. Our firm does not, and will never, engage in trolling, online harassment, or deception,” the company declared, emphasizing their commitment to transparent, ethical, and data-driven communications.
They warned that labeling their work as “troll activity” is false, defamatory, and puts their team and clients at risk.
The stage is now set for a gripping Senate hearing. Will InfinitUs step up under oath or continue to dodge accountability behind press releases? The nation awaits the truth.
