Transportation Secretary Orders License Revocation After Incident

License Revocation Ordered After Traffic Incident

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon has ordered the perpetual revocation of a female driver’s license following a shocking incident involving a traffic enforcer in Cavite. The case highlights the government’s strict stance on road safety and law enforcement compliance.

On August 18, traffic enforcer Michael Trajico flagged down the driver due to an alleged hit-and-run. However, the driver, who identified herself as a lawyer, reacted aggressively. Officials reported that she attempted to run over Trajico, forcing him to cling to the vehicle’s hood to avoid injury.

Driver’s Reckless Actions Draw Strong Response

According to sources, Trajico held on tightly to the car’s hood for approximately 10 to 15 minutes as the driver continued to maneuver through the streets. Authorities described the driver as uncooperative and defiant throughout the encounter.

Secretary Dizon expressed disbelief over the driver’s behavior, saying, “This woman, this driver, boasts that she is a lawyer… This driver even gloats about being a lawyer. If you are a lawyer, would you run over a traffic enforcer? Okay, since you are a lawyer, face all the consequences coming your way.”

Support for Traffic Enforcer and Legal Action Encouraged

In response to the incident, Dizon encouraged Trajico to file charges against the driver. “File a case against this [driver]. The DOTr and the government will support you… Michael, we have your back. Don’t be afraid to file charges [against the driver]. Don’t be afraid just because she’s a lawyer,” he stated during a press briefing.

Community members and officials alike have voiced support for upholding traffic laws and ensuring that violators face appropriate penalties, regardless of their profession or status.

Government’s Firm Warning on Road Law Violations

During the same press conference, Secretary Dizon issued a stern warning to all motorists about obeying traffic rules. He reminded the public that the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) are empowered to revoke licenses for violations.

“If you don’t obey the laws, the government and the LTO can revoke your license. Either temporarily, or in the case of grave violators, you won’t be able to drive for life; you could get sued, too,” Dizon emphasized. He also revealed that in the past six months alone, the DOTr has issued 2,008 show-cause orders and revoked 420 licenses for various offenses.

Commitment to Road Safety Enforcement

The incident serves as a reminder of the government’s commitment to strict enforcement of traffic regulations and the protection of law enforcers. Officials noted that no individual is above the law, and reckless behavior on the road will be met with firm consequences.

Secretary Dizon’s decisive action in revoking the driver’s license permanently sends a clear message to all motorists: road safety is non-negotiable, and violations will not be tolerated regardless of one’s background.
