Tropical Depression Auring Exits Philippine Area of Responsibility
Tropical depression Auring has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and weakened into a Low-Pressure Area (LPA) early Friday morning, June 13, local weather authorities reported. The four-word keyphrase “Tropical Depression Auring leaves” highlights the recent weather update affecting northern regions.
A weather specialist explained that Auring weakened around 2 a.m. due to friction after it made landfall in Taiwan. By 4 a.m., the LPA was located about 580 kilometers north-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes.
Weather Impact and Forecasts for Northern Philippines
The extension of the LPA is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Batanes within the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, may cause similar wet conditions in the Ilocos Region and Babuyan Islands.
Although the habagat’s influence has temporarily weakened, warm easterly winds from the Pacific Ocean are now reaching Surigao del Sur and Davao Oriental. These easterlies are likely to cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional rain showers or thunderstorms across much of the country.
Upcoming Weather Trends for Visayas and Mindanao
From Saturday through Sunday, June 14 to 15, rain showers and thunderstorms could increase in parts of Visayas and Mindanao. This is due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), a weather system formed by the merging of winds from both hemispheres.
Between Monday and Tuesday, June 16 to 17, the ITCZ’s influence may shift towards areas in Visayas, Bicol, and Mimaropa. Residents are advised to prepare for rainy weather, especially at the start of the school year. Carrying umbrellas and raincoats when going out is recommended to stay dry.
