Minor Eruption Recorded at Taal Volcano

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported a minor phreatic eruption at Taal Volcano on Thursday afternoon. According to monitoring data, the event occurred between 3:01 p.m. and 3:13 p.m. at the main crater.

Phivolcs described the activity as “minor phreatomagmatic eruptive events,” which, while not causing major disruption, remain a reminder of the volcano’s volatility. Authorities continue to monitor Taal closely to ensure public safety.

Presidential Office Welcomes VP Duterte’s Suggestions

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. remains open to all proposals from Vice President Sara Duterte that aim to benefit the country. Palace press officer Undersecretary Claire Castro stated in Filipino, “On the part of the Palace, we welcome any impactful and good suggestion from the Office of the Vice President.”

Human Remains Found in Taal Lake Search

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla announced the recovery of human ribs during the ongoing search for missing cockfighting enthusiasts, or “sabungeros,” in Taal Lake, Batangas. The remains were located in an area identified by sources and linked to Julie Patidongan, a whistleblower involved in the case.

Authorities continue their efforts to locate all missing persons and bring clarity to the investigation.

Senate Impeachment Court Formation Pending

Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa clarified that the Senate impeachment court to try the case against Vice President Sara Duterte has yet to be formed in the 20th Congress. He stressed the need to settle jurisdictional issues when Congress convenes on July 28.

Dela Rosa also issued a challenge to the Marcos administration, cautioning against surrendering Filipino citizens to the International Criminal Court (ICC). Speaking to reporters, he referenced past cases and warned of potential repercussions.
