Tropical Depression Dante’s Rapid Development
Tropical Depression Dante may strengthen into a tropical storm within the next 12 hours, local weather authorities said early Wednesday. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that Dante’s center was last detected 880 kilometers east of northern Luzon.
Currently, the tropical depression maintains maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching up to 70 km/h. It is moving northwestward at a speed of 25 km/h, steadily gaining strength.
Forecast and Movement of Tropical Depression Dante
According to sources, Dante is expected to continue moving generally northwest over the Philippine Sea within the next 24 hours. The system is projected to approach the Ryukyu Islands and eventually the East China Sea in the coming days.
Officials note that the tropical depression may leave the Philippine area of responsibility by Thursday evening or early Friday morning, depending on its trajectory and speed.
