Tropical Depression Dante Develops East of Aurora
MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) east of Aurora has intensified into Tropical Depression Dante, sources said. This development was confirmed early Tuesday afternoon by local weather authorities.
At around 2:00 p.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) officially named the system Tropical Depression Dante. The tropical depression was located 1,120 kilometers east of Northern Luzon and was moving north-northwest at 20 kilometers per hour.
Wind Speeds and Movement
According to updates, Dante carries maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour with gusts reaching up to 55 kilometers per hour. This early formation signals the need for vigilance among residents in affected areas.
Additional Low-Pressure Areas Monitored
Aside from Tropical Depression Dante, the weather agency is also tracking other low-pressure areas. One LPA, referred to as 07h, was last recorded 170 kilometers east-southeast of Basco in Batanes, within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Meanwhile, another LPA, labeled 07i, was spotted far outside the PAR, about 2,705 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. Authorities continue to monitor these systems as they may influence weather conditions in the coming days.
Heavy Rainfall Warnings Issued
In a separate advisory, heavy rainfall warnings remain in effect for several provinces. Pampanga, Bataan, and Zambales are under an orange rainfall warning, meaning they can expect between 15 to 30 millimeters of rain within the next three hours.
Additionally, Metro Manila, Tarlac, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, and Laguna are under a yellow rainfall warning. These areas may see rainfall amounts ranging from 7.5 to 15 millimeters over the same period.
Residents are urged to stay alert and prepare for possible flooding or other weather-related disturbances. Local leaders noted that precautionary measures should be prioritized to ensure community safety.
