Tropical Storm 7d Forms Outside Philippine Area
MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA), designated as 7d, has developed into a tropical storm early Saturday morning outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
As of 2 a.m. on July 12, the storm was located approximately 1,925 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, according to the latest outlook from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
The tropical storm 7d carried maximum sustained winds reaching 65 kilometers per hour, with gusts up to 80 kph. It was moving slowly in a west-northwest direction.
Impact and Forecast
Despite the storm’s development, weather specialist Grace Castañeda of Pagasa clarified in the agency’s morning briefing, “Hindi ito nakikitang papasok sa ating area of responsibility.” She added, “Wala rin itong epekto sa alinmang bahagi ng ating bansa.” This means the storm is not expected to enter the Philippine area and will not affect any part of the country.
Meanwhile, other low-pressure areas outside PAR are also being monitored, but they currently pose no threat to the Philippines. However, the habagat (southwest monsoon) continues to bring rains to some regions.
Monitoring Weather Developments
Authorities continue to watch the tropical storm 7d’s path closely. Although it remains outside the Philippine area of responsibility, its status is important for maritime and regional weather forecasting. Local officials and residents are advised to stay informed through official updates.
