Tropical Storm Bising Expected to Strengthen Within 24 Hours
Tropical Storm Bising, internationally known as Danas, is forecasted to intensify into a severe tropical storm within the next 24 hours, local meteorological sources said. The tropical storm is currently located 460 kilometers west of Basco, Batanes, still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
According to weather officials, Tropical Storm Bising is moving slowly east-northeastward, with sustained wind speeds reaching up to 75 kilometers per hour and gusts up to 90 kilometers per hour. The storm’s progression and intensification remain closely monitored as it approaches the region.
Forecast and Movement of Tropical Storm Bising
The Philippine weather agency explained that Danas (Bising) is expected to grow stronger, becoming a severe tropical storm while passing over the Taiwan Strait. However, it is anticipated to weaken come Tuesday due to its interaction with the landmass of eastern China.
“Danas [Bising] is forecast to intensify into a severe tropical storm within the next 24 hours and is expected to maintain its strength while passing over the Taiwan Strait. It is expected to weaken on Tuesday as it interacts with the landmass of eastern China,” officials noted.
Bising left the Philippine Area of Responsibility as a tropical depression on Friday noon and strengthened into a tropical storm by Saturday morning. It is forecasted to move slowly northward for the next 12 hours before changing direction to north-northeast over the sea west of extreme Northern Luzon.
Local authorities also indicated a possible brief re-entry of the storm into the northwestern boundary of the PAR by Monday.
Community Preparations and Precautions
Residents in areas potentially affected by the storm are advised to stay alert and monitor official announcements. The slow movement and projected path of Tropical Storm Bising warrant preparedness for possible rainfall and gusty winds.
Local leaders highlighted the importance of taking precautionary measures to minimize risks and ensure safety amid the storm’s approach and possible re-entry into Philippine territory.
