Laguna Water Champions TSEK ng Bayan Initiative
Manila Water Non-East Zone operating unit Laguna Water, in collaboration with the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Biñan, has launched its flagship campaign, TSEK ng Bayan. This important initiative, which stands for Tamang Sanitasyon Equals Kalusugan, Kalinisan, at Kaunlaran ng Bayan, highlights the critical role of proper sanitation in fostering healthier, cleaner, and more progressive communities.
Community members and local officials alike embraced the campaign’s message, recognizing that TSEK ng Bayan empowers residents with essential knowledge about clean water use, responsible waste management, and the benefits of regular desludging. According to sources, these efforts are key to improving public health and environmental conditions across Laguna Water’s service areas.
Empowering Communities Through Education
The campaign actively engages residents from several barangays including Platero, Bungahan, San Antonio, Malamig, Santo Tomas, and Zapote. Local leaders noted their strong support during the event, emphasizing the shared responsibility of sanitation to protect community well-being.
“Sanitation is a shared responsibility, and it’s encouraging to see local leaders actively participating. We’re grateful for the opportunity to work closely with our communities in promoting health and environmental protection,” said Camille Orbeso, Business Operations Head of Laguna Water.
Localized Approach Enhances Campaign Impact
Officials from CENRO Biñan praised the campaign’s hands-on, barangay-focused approach. “This is not the first time we’ve talked about sanitation with the community, but what makes this campaign stand out is how hands-on and localized it is,” shared Rodel Lee, Head of Biñan CENRO.
He added, “By bringing the discussion straight to the barangays, Laguna Water makes sure the message really connects with people’s daily experiences. The initiative not only educates but also empowers communities to act.”
Desludging Services and Community Benefits
Laguna Water is an accredited desludging service provider in Laguna province. This year alone, nearly 3,276 households in Santa Rosa, Biñan, Cabuyao, and Pagsanjan have benefited from their desludging initiatives. Such services are crucial in maintaining sanitation standards and preventing environmental contamination.
The campaign’s success reflects Laguna Water’s ongoing dedication to sustainable sanitation practices, which help build more resilient and healthier communities.
Aligning with Global Sustainable Goals
The TSEK ng Bayan campaign aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 6, advocating for universal access to clean water and sanitation. Laguna Water plans to extend this campaign to additional areas, working closely with local government units and environmental offices to ensure lasting positive change.
Community members and stakeholders remain optimistic about the campaign’s future impact, appreciating its practical guidance and community-driven focus.
