Tragic Fall in Benguet Claims Two Workers
BAGUIO CITY — Two personnel from the Benguet Provincial Engineering Office lost their lives after the loader they were on plunged into a 100-meter ravine on Tuesday afternoon, July 29, in Lower Kesbeng, Poblacion, La Trinidad. This loader fall ravine accident happened as the team was responding to a soil erosion problem.
The victims, identified as Redentor Roldan and Rex Galang, were part of a group addressing the erosion in Barangay Bineng amid ongoing monsoon rains. Their dedication to public safety placed them directly in harm’s way during hazardous weather conditions.
Loader Fall Ravine Accident Details and Rescue
According to initial information, four workers rode the loader when its brakes reportedly failed on a curved, downhill road. The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to tumble down the ravine. The driver survived and managed to climb out to seek help.
Sadly, Roldan and Galang were declared dead at the scene. The two other passengers were injured and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Local authorities are investigating the incident to prevent future accidents.
