Ex-Convict Brothers Arrested in Lucena Drug Bust
In a recent drug bust, two ex-convict brothers were apprehended again in Lucena City, the capital of Quezon province. Officials reported that the siblings, known by their aliases “Hapon,” 30, and “Tanda,” 26, were caught during a buy-bust operation on Sunday afternoon.
The Lucena City drug enforcement unit conducted the operation inside a subdivision in Barangay Cotta. According to local authorities, the brothers sold P500 worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly called shabu, to an undercover operative around 3 p.m.
Seizure and Investigation Details
Authorities confiscated four plastic sachets containing approximately 15 grams of suspected shabu. Based on the prevailing street price of P20,400 per gram, the contraband’s estimated value is around P306,000. However, police are still investigating to identify the source of the illegal drugs.
Background and Legal Proceedings
Lucena police chief Lt. Col. William Angway Jr. confirmed that both brothers had prior convictions related to drug offenses and had already served their sentences. Despite their history, the siblings were found involved in illegal drug activities once again.
The suspects are currently detained and face new charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Community members expressed concern over the recurrence of drug offenses among former convicts in the area.
