Two NPA Members Killed in Masbate Clashes Over Weekend
LEGAZPI CITY – Two New People’s Army (NPA) members were killed in a series of clashes with government forces in two barangays in Mobo, Masbate, over the weekend. The two NPA members were identified as alias “Lito” and “Roco,” officials reported.
Recovered Firearms and Documents After Encounters
Local authorities recovered multiple firearms, equipment, subversive documents, and personal belongings from the slain rebels. These items were seized during focused military operations aimed at neutralizing armed groups threatening peace and security in the region.
Focused Military Operations Ensured Community Safety
Maj. Frank Roldan, chief of the 9th Infantry Division Public Affairs Office, said government troops launched these focused military operations following information from a concerned citizen about armed men in the area. “Our government troops are actively conducting focused military operations to ensure the safety of our citizens and communities, particularly in the remote areas of Bicol,” Roldan stated.
Casualties Among Government Troops
The clashes resulted in the death of one soldier and injuries to two others. Community leaders noted that the wounded soldiers are now in stable condition and receiving medical care in the hospital. The military continues to prioritize the welfare of their personnel while maintaining security operations.
