According to Governor Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor, the two officers were struck by lightning in the parking area of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion Headquarters under Police Regional Office 4B. “Nasawi ang dalawang pulis matapos tamaan ng kidlat sa parking area ng Regional Mobile Force Battalion Headquarters ng [Police Regional Office] 4B sa bayan ng Naujan, Oriental Mindoro,” the governor posted on social media.

The lightning strike happened between 10:30 and 11:30 p.m. while heavy rain poured over the area. The officers were stationed in the parking lot of the police camp when the sudden storm caused the fatal strike.
After the incident, the two policemen were rushed to Mindoro Medical Center. Unfortunately, they were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
