Two Students Critically Injured by Falling Concrete Debris in Quezon City

Two students were critically injured after being struck by falling concrete debris in front of a condominium along Tomas Morato Avenue in Quezon City, officials reported Tuesday afternoon. The incident has raised concerns about building safety in the area.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) confirmed that the minor victims, both students of Don Roces Science High School, were walking near the condominium when a portion of the building’s concrete structure suddenly collapsed and fell on them. Immediate assistance was provided by nearby police officers.

Emergency Response and Medical Care

Police personnel promptly responded to the scene and rushed the injured students to Capitol Medical Center for urgent medical treatment. Community members noted the swift action likely saved the students’ lives.

Authorities are closely monitoring the students’ condition and have expressed hope for their full recovery. “We extend our prayers for their full and speedy recovery and stand in solidarity with their families during this difficult time,” local leaders said.

Inspection and Investigation Underway

In response to the incident, the QCPD is collaborating with relevant agencies to inspect the site thoroughly. Officials reported they are assessing the structural integrity of the condominium and evaluating nearby buildings to ensure no further hazards threaten public safety.

“A thorough investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the incident and establish accountability,” authorities confirmed. They emphasized the importance of identifying those responsible to prevent similar tragedies.

Quezon City Government Offers Support

The Quezon City government announced it will provide assistance to the victims and their families through the Social Services and Development Department. Local officials assured the public that support will be extended promptly.

“Let us pray for their speedy recovery. At the same time, we have instructed our concerned agencies to investigate and afterward, determine the case that may be filed against whoever is responsible,” the local government stated Tuesday night.

They also emphasized that an appropriate investigation has been launched to hold accountable those liable for the avoidable incident. “The safety and well-being of our citizens, especially our youth, is our primary concern,” officials added.

Community Call for Safety Measures

Residents and community members have voiced their concern over building safety standards, urging stricter inspections and enforcement to prevent similar accidents. The tragic event highlights the urgent need for vigilance and proactive measures to protect public welfare.

Authorities continue to work diligently to ensure the surrounding structures pose no danger to the public while the investigation proceeds.
