Two Young Boys Drowned in Rizal Town Incident
Authorities reported that two young boys drowned in Rizal town on Monday afternoon, August 4, 2025. The tragic accident occurred in Laguna de Bay, specifically in Binangonan, highlighting the dangers near the lakeshore.
The victims, identified as Matthew, 4, and his cousin Joseph Julian, 3, both lived in Barangay Bombong. Local responders and police sources said the children were near the water when the accident happened.
Details of the Accidental Drowning Incident
Police shared that Matthew’s mother spotted his slippers floating near the Pritil Wharf around 12:20 p.m. She quickly raised the alarm, prompting a rescue operation. Despite their efforts, rescuers found the boys’ bodies floating in the water and immediately brought them to Margarito Duavit Memorial Hospital.
Sadly, both boys were declared dead on arrival. Initial investigations suggest that the children were walking near a waiting shed by the lakeshore before they accidentally fell into the water.
Family Requests No Autopsy
The families requested that no post-mortem examinations or autopsies be conducted. Police have officially classified the event as an accidental drowning, closing the case with this determination.
