Typhoon Bising Triggers Early Winds Signal in Batanes
MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 has been raised over Batanes as Typhoon Bising (international name: Danas) speeds northeast toward Taiwan, sources said. The early winds signal warns residents of possible strong winds and minor risks to life and property.
According to the latest 5 p.m. bulletin, the storm’s center is located 335 kilometers west-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, currently outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). Bising is moving northeast at 15 kilometers per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 130 kph and gusts reaching up to 160 kph.
Forecast and Movement of Typhoon Bising
Forecasters expect Typhoon Bising to continue northeastward over the next 36 hours and potentially enter the northwestern edge of PAR by Sunday night. It is projected to leave the PAR boundary by the morning of July 7. The storm is likely to intensify steadily during the next 12 hours before weakening over the East China Sea due to less favorable conditions.
By July 10, Bising may downgrade into a remnant low as it interacts with the Chinese mainland, local observers noted. Meanwhile, minimal to minor threats from strong winds remain possible in areas under Wind Signal No. 1, where wind speeds between 39 and 61 kph are expected.
Areas Bracing for Strong Winds and Gusts
Alongside Typhoon Bising, the southwest monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts across several regions. On Sunday, July 6, these include the Ilocos Region, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Quezon, Masbate, and Romblon. The same areas, with additions like Occidental Mindoro, will experience gusts on Monday, July 7. By Tuesday, July 8, Palawan also joins the list of affected areas.
Authorities have issued a gale warning for the seaboard of extreme northern Luzon, urging residents to remain alert and prepare for rapidly changing weather conditions.
