Typhoon Bising Makes Landfall in Taiwan and Leaves PAR
Typhoon Bising, internationally known as Danas, has made landfall in Taiwan and is now expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), sources said on Monday. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) confirmed this development in their early morning update.
At 4:00 a.m., Pagasa lifted Wind Signal No. 1 in Batanes as the typhoon moved beyond the area. This marks a significant relief for residents who had been preparing for strong winds.
Current Status of Typhoon Bising
According to the latest information, the center of Typhoon Bising was located approximately 405 kilometers north-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes. The typhoon was packing maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour near its center, with gusts reaching up to 180 kilometers per hour. These powerful winds posed a threat to northern Luzon before the storm’s shift.
Bising entered the PAR at 11:00 p.m. on Sunday and made landfall over southwestern Taiwan at 11:50 p.m., quickly moving northeastward across the island.
Forecast and Expected Path
Pagasa reported that Typhoon Bising will continue moving generally northeastward while crossing Taiwan’s landmass. It is expected to exit the northern boundary of the PAR later this morning. The typhoon is not anticipated to affect the Philippines further as it moves away.
By Tuesday, weather authorities forecast that Bising will turn northwestward and make another landfall over eastern China. Residents and local officials in the affected areas are advised to stay alert for updates.
