University of the Philippines Diliman Honors Top Graduates
MANILA, Philippines — At the University of the Philippines Diliman, a remarkable total of 241 students will graduate summa cum laude this year. The university awards this prestigious honor to those who achieve a weighted average grade (WAG) of 1.20 or higher, a true mark of academic excellence.
Alongside these top achievers, 1,143 students will graduate magna cum laude, while 985 will earn cum laude distinctions, according to figures from the university’s registrar.
Comparing Honors and Graduation Traditions
Compared to last year, the number of summa cum laude honorees slightly decreased from 286, while magna cum laude graduates dropped from 1,109. However, cum laude graduates increased from 788. These numbers reflect the consistent high standards upheld by the university.
The annual commencement exercises, themed “Lunas” (Remedy), are scheduled at the University Amphitheater on Sunday, July 6, beginning at 7 a.m. This event celebrates the resilience and achievements of the graduating class.
Guest Speakers and Valedictory Address
Veteran broadcaster Jessica Soho will deliver the commencement address, inspiring graduates and guests alike. Meanwhile, Mark Andy Pedere, a graduating student of Philippine Studies with a stellar WAG of 1.066, will present the valedictory speech, embodying the spirit of dedication and excellence.
