Unlicensed Doctor Performs Circumcision in Tondo Clinic
Authorities from the Manila Police District (MPD) have uncovered that the woman who conducted a circumcision on a 10-year-old boy in Tondo, Manila, was not a licensed medical practitioner. This incident has raised serious concerns, especially since the boy tragically died shortly after the procedure.
History of Impersonation and Illegal Practice
Reports indicate that the suspect is a senior citizen who falsely presented herself as a physician to perform medical procedures. Local experts revealed that this same woman was previously arrested in 2023 during a raid on a lying-in clinic in Balut, Tondo. At that time, the Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group found that she was impersonating a licensed doctor by using the identity and license number of a real physician she once worked with.
Although she was taken into custody, she was released after posting bail. Authorities warn that despite her prior arrest, she resumed her illegal practice.
Fatal Circumcision and Unlicensed Clinic Operation
On May 17, the woman again posed as a licensed doctor and performed a circumcision on a 10-year-old boy. Soon after the procedure, the child suffered serious complications and was rushed to a hospital. Unfortunately, he was declared dead on arrival.
Investigators confirmed that the clinic where the procedure took place was operating without the necessary permits. The Manila Police District emphasized that the woman has no medical license, making her actions both illegal and highly dangerous.
Investigation and Autopsy to Determine Cause of Death
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has already conducted an autopsy to determine the exact cause of the boy’s death. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident to hold those responsible accountable.
Community leaders urge parents to verify the credentials of medical practitioners before allowing any procedures, especially those involving children. This tragic case highlights the risks posed by unlicensed individuals performing medical services in unauthorized clinics.
