UP Diliman Calls for Consideration Amid Eleksyon 2025
In preparation for the upcoming Eleksyon 2025, the University of the Philippines Diliman campus has asked its faculty members to be understanding of students who might face travel difficulties. This comes as the national elections are set on Monday, May 12.
Specifically, some students may have trouble attending classes on Tuesday, May 13, the day after the elections. Because of this, the UP Diliman Office of the Chancellor requested that professors give due consideration to those who might be absent due to election-related travel.
Flexible Learning Options and Work Arrangements
While faculty are encouraged to accommodate students, the decision to switch to alternative learning modes remains with them. The semester is nearing its end, and some face-to-face activities may need to continue without delay.
Additionally, the Chancellor’s office urged heads of academic and administrative departments to also show flexibility. Staff members may be allowed flexible work arrangements if necessary, ensuring they can manage election-related demands smoothly.
Election Day Declared Special Holiday
Notably, the national government has declared May 12 a special non-working holiday nationwide. This move aims to give Filipinos ample time to participate in the 2025 midterm national and local elections.
Given that UP Diliman hosts many scholars from provinces across the country, these considerations are crucial. The university’s call highlights the importance of supporting students and staff during this busy election period.
