Valencia City Declared Insurgency-Free in Historic Milestone

Valencia City Achieves Insurgency-Free Status

Valencia City has officially been declared insurgency-free, marking a significant achievement as the first among nine cities in Northern Mindanao to reach this milestone. The declaration of insurgency-free status highlights the city’s progress toward peace and security, a goal long pursued by local government officials and security forces.

During a formal ceremony at the Valencia City Hall on Friday, Mayor Amie Galario, together with the Army’s 89th Infantry Battalion and the 1003rd Infantry Brigade, confirmed the city’s new status. Community members and local leaders expressed optimism about the positive changes this declaration will bring to the region.

Collaborative Efforts Lead to Success

Officials reported that the cooperation between the local government unit and military forces played a crucial role in eradicating insurgent presence. The 89th Infantry Battalion and 1003rd Infantry Brigade intensified their operations, focusing on community engagement and security measures that ultimately helped stabilize the area.

Local leaders noted that this achievement reflects not only military efforts but also the active participation of residents who supported peace-building initiatives. “Nagpasalamat kami sa tanan nga naghatag ug suporta aron kini nga kalampusan makab-ot,” a community representative said, emphasizing the collective effort behind the declaration.

Impact on Northern Mindanao’s Peace Landscape

Valencia City’s insurgency-free status sets a precedent for the other eight cities in Northern Mindanao. Officials emphasized that this development could inspire similar progress in neighboring areas still grappling with security challenges.

Security sources highlighted ongoing programs aimed at sustaining peace, including continuous dialogue with community stakeholders and enhanced intelligence operations. These strategies are crucial to preventing the resurgence of insurgent activities.

Looking Forward: Sustaining Peace and Development

The city government plans to build on this success by promoting inclusive growth and ensuring the welfare of its citizens. Mayor Galario expressed commitment to maintaining peace through development projects and strengthened governance.

Community members are hopeful that the declaration will attract more investments and improve the quality of life in Valencia City. “Kini nga kalampusan usa ka dakong hagit nga ipadayon nato para sa kaugmaon sa among lungsod,” a local elder remarked.
