Valenzuela City Distributes Free School Supplies Early

Valenzuela City Distributes Free School Supplies Early for 2025

Valenzuela City has once again shown its commitment to education by distributing free school supplies and uniforms to 132,467 public school students as part of its Balik-Eskwela 2025 program. This early provision helps ease the financial burden on families and prepares students for a successful school year. Local leaders emphasized the importance of the free school supplies in boosting morale and readiness among learners.

Mayor Weslie “Wes” Gatchalian, Representative Kenneth Gatchalian, and city council members personally led the distribution efforts on June 5. The program focuses on Kindergarten to Grade 6 students in public elementary schools, providing each child with essential materials such as backpacks, notebooks, Math and English textbooks, rulers, intermediate pads, pencil cases filled with crayons, pencils, pens, erasers, sharpeners, as well as tumblers and lunch boxes.

Supporting Both Elementary and High School Students

For junior and senior high school students, the city government provided two sets of school uniforms to ensure they are well-equipped. The total budget allocated for this initiative reached over P86 million—P30,222,573 for 76,947 elementary pupils’ school kits and P56,698,000 for uniforms to 55,520 high school students. These figures were based on last year’s enrollment data since current enrollment is still ongoing.

The local Public Information Office shared that distribution will continue over four days across various public schools in Valenzuela. To maintain order and efficiency, multiple teams were deployed to oversee the process, ensuring every student receives their supplies smoothly.

Balik-Eskwela 2025 Part of Education 360 Degrees Investment Program

This yearly initiative began in 2008 and forms a crucial part of Valenzuela’s Education 360 Degrees Investment Program. This comprehensive approach supports students, educators, and schools, aiming to enhance learning conditions citywide.

Mayor Gatchalian expressed heartfelt support for the families of Valenzuela, highlighting how new school supplies excite children and encourage them to attend school eagerly. “Alam ko kung gaano kagalak ang ating mga magulang, dahil alam naman natin na excited na excited pumasok ang ating mga anak kapag bago ang mga school supplies,” he said.

He also explained the decision to provide free uniforms amid rising prices of basic goods. “Minarapat na rin po nating gawing libre ang mga uniporme, dahil alam naman po natin na mataas na ang presyo ng mga bilihin, kaya sana ay makatulong itong mga ito sa mga gastusin. Kami po ay nagiisip lamang ng mga proyektong makakatulong sa ating mga kabataan.”

This initiative underscores the city’s dedication to easing educational costs and supporting the youth’s development.
