Van Driver Cuts Queue at La Salle Greenhills
Authorities have raised concerns after a van driver allegedly cut in line at a queue leading to La Salle Greenhills along Ortigas Avenue and verbally confronted a traffic enforcer. The incident, which occurred on August 8, 2025, has prompted calls for swift investigation and accountability.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has formally requested the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to investigate the matter. MMDA Chairperson Don Artes sent a letter to LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II, urging appropriate disciplinary action after a viral video showed the confrontation.
Incident Details and Viral Video
According to local officials, the white van attempted to bypass the established queue designed to ease traffic congestion near La Salle Greenhills (LSGH). A video shared by traffic authorities captures a heated exchange where a woman inside the van repeatedly berates the MMDA traffic enforcer who stopped their attempt to cut the line.
In the recording, the woman can be heard mentioning “Sir Tony” twice while arguing with the enforcer. Despite her remarks, the traffic personnel remained firm in enforcing the rules. Community members noted the enforcer’s calm and professional demeanor despite the provocation.
Enforcement and No-Contact Apprehension
Officials reported that the van was flagged under the no-contact apprehension policy for obstructing traffic during the incident. However, neither the woman’s identity nor the van’s license plate has been publicly disclosed as investigations continue.
Chairperson Artes emphasized the importance of due process but stressed the need for accountability. “Foregoing the considered, the MMDA respectfully requests for the honorable Land Transportation Office, after due process, the imposition, if warranted, of the appropriate disciplinary sanction against the erring person/s involved,” he stated.
Appeal to Drivers and Parents
In light of the incident, authorities appealed to parents and drivers who pick up their children from school to remain patient and respectful toward traffic enforcers. “Remain calm when flagged down by traffic enforcers who are only performing their duty,” they urged, highlighting the challenges of managing traffic in busy school zones.
The MMDA’s intervention underscores ongoing efforts to maintain order and reduce congestion along key thoroughfares in Metro Manila. The agency continues to encourage cooperation from motorists to ensure smoother traffic flow and safer road conditions.
