VP Sara Duterte Overcomes Systematic Attacks to Serve Filipinos
Despite enduring systematic attacks, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) led by Vice President Sara Duterte has remained steadfast in delivering crucial social services to Filipinos. These services address pressing challenges in health, education, hunger, and livelihood. Duterte emphasized at the 2025 Pasidungog awarding ceremony in Davao City that these attacks failed to weaken her office’s commitment to the Filipino people.
“Ngunit ang mga batikos at sistematikong atake laban sa OVP ay hindi naging sapat para tayo ay humina, huminto, at mabigo,” she stated, affirming that the intention to discourage their mission did not succeed. Although she did not directly mention the political tensions with the current administration, the OVP’s budget for 2025 was notably limited to P733 million, reflecting ongoing challenges.
Strong Partnerships Drive Progress
Duterte credited over 1,000 partners from government agencies, private sectors, and civic organizations for their vital role in advancing the OVP’s programs. “To our partners from key government institutions, thank you for working with us to implement programs, deliver services, and respond to the needs of underserved Filipinos,” she expressed. Their collaboration has been essential despite financial constraints, showcasing the spirit of resilience and unity.
“Sa loob ng tatlong taon bilang Vice President, ako ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa inyong patuloy na pakikipagtulungan para sa pagsasakatuparan ng ating mga mithiin para sa ating bayan,” she added, highlighting the importance of collective effort.
Putting the Country First Amid Challenges
Calling for continued unity, the Vice President urged everyone to prioritize the nation’s welfare above personal interests. “Unahin natin ang bansa kaysa sa pansariling interes. Mangako tayo na ilalaan lamang natin ang ating puso at gawa para sa tunay na ikabubuti ng sambayanan,” she appealed.
She reminded Filipinos to cherish the homeland as the sanctuary of their dreams. “Mahalin natin ang Pilipinas dahil tayo ay iisa—magkaiba man ang ating mga pinanggalingan, tayo naman ay may parehong mithiin: kapayapaan, kaunlaran, at katarungan,” Duterte said, inspiring a shared vision of peace, progress, and justice.
The OVP continues to stand as a dependable ally of every Filipino, pledging unwavering support toward a stronger, more progressive nation.
Delivering Essential Social Services
Among the core programs are the Medical Assistance Program and Burial Assistance Program. Together, these have provided critical support to thousands of families—over 127,984 Filipinos benefited from medical aid, while 25,495 families received burial assistance.
Duterte also brought her Magnegosyo Ta ‘Day (MTD) initiative, which has empowered 463 individuals and nine organizations, reaching over 1,000 beneficiaries aspiring to establish their own businesses.
The OVP’s “Libreng Sakay” program helped more than a million commuters across Metro Manila, Cavite, Bacolod, Cebu, and Davao by easing transportation during peak hours. In June, free shuttle services were launched in Tacloban City and surrounding areas.
Disaster relief efforts reached 92,568 families, providing timely assistance during crises nationwide. The “Kalusugan Food Trucks” served 3,914 freshly cooked meals to uniformed personnel deployed in key cities.
To combat hunger, the Relief of Individuals and Indigents in Crises and Emergencies (RIICE) Program distributed food packages to over 146,000 beneficiaries. Meanwhile, the PanSarap Project delivered nutritious buns to more than 13,000 students, supporting their health and learning.
During her time as Education Secretary, Duterte distributed nearly 200,000 school bags filled with supplies that offer hope and encouragement to learners.
