VP Sara Duterte Confronts Political Attacks
Vice President Sara Duterte recently spoke out against her critics, asserting that the attacks against her stem from her being an obstacle to their personal ambitions. She addressed this during the 127th Philippine Independence Day celebration held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on June 12. Duterte emphasized that the exact four word keyphrase “hindrance to their personal ambitions” describes how detractors see her.
Without pointing fingers, she expressed that her genuine compassion and dedication to public service threaten certain vested interests. “To them, we are a hindrance, an obstruction to the path of their personal ambition, an enemy they must eliminate to clear their way,” she said.
Standing Firm Despite Opposition
Duterte criticized the cowardly and arrogant nature of the attacks, which she described as lacking decency and respect for the law. “Pero nanatili tayong nakatayo dahil ang ipinaglalaban natin ay tama at totoo,” she declared, underscoring her resilience because their cause is just and true.
She also took a subtle jab at those in power whose priorities do not align with the Filipino people’s welfare. She said, “Gamit ang dahas at hiram na kapangyarihan ay papahirapan nila tayo,” adding that the challenges faced by her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, serve as a clear example.
Resolute in Her Fight for the Nation
Despite the threats and harassment, VP Duterte remains unwavering. She said, “We remain strong, steadfast, and grounded in truth, integrity, and faith that the hand of God will move in ways we cannot comprehend at this point. Justice bents to the truth and we are ever more resolute in our fight for the Philippines.”
She concluded with a message of hope and unity: “At naniwala akong maipapanalo natin ang laban na ito dahil laban natin itong lahat. Maipapanalo natin ito sa kabila ng mga banta, pananakot, pagmamalabis, at bangis.”
