Vice President Sara Duterte has returned to the Philippines following a personal visit to Malaysia with her family. During her stay, she attended an Independence Day celebration and met with overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), strengthening ties with Filipinos abroad.
The Vice President arrived early morning on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) via Philippine Airlines flight PR 530, according to a statement from her office. She is scheduled to participate in the 2025 PASIDUNGOG awarding ceremony in Davao City on Monday, June 16, 2025.

Among those accompanying Duterte in Malaysia were Senators Imee Marcos and Robin Padilla. Both senators were among the 18 senator-judges who voted to forward the articles of impeachment against the Vice President to the House of Representatives.
During a speech in Malaysia, Duterte described the presidential sister as being like a “hostage,” unable to return to the Marcos family unless former President Rodrigo Duterte is brought back to the Philippines. The former president is currently detained in The Hague, Netherlands, following his arrest on March 11 due to charges from the International Criminal Court (ICC) related to alleged crimes against humanity.

Meanwhile, Vice President Sara Duterte faces an impeachment complaint linked to a death threat she reportedly made against President Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and Speaker Martin Romualdez in November of the previous year. The complaint also cites allegations of betrayal of public trust and misuse of controversial public funds.
